  • No Fockers, but Plenty of Fish

Michelle and I took advantage of cooperative winds this morning to hit the Jetties and caught limits of Sheepies to 7 lbs. Checked for the Fockers on the way over, no screaming bird ladies or flashes of white butts. Although, since she got to fish on my limit, I did consider calling her a MotherFocker.

the north jetty was really calm in the morning. the wind picked up around noon but the ride in was fine. we were across the jetty from mike williams and didn't see him boat anything all morning. the boats fishing the channel for drum/bull reds didn't seem to have any luck. it's funny how you can take 60 lbs of fish and turn them into about 10 lbs of fillets.

I fried up some of that sheephead last night, and let me tell you, it is well worth the effort Ya'll can keep that flounder meat, bay snapper is where it's at.

the fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad.

Hey Michelle. Nice report, although im a bit late. I was wondering if there is a "season" for sheepies? Are they biting now? I havent been able to catch any fiddler crabs myself but was wondering if you use live or dead shrimp or maybe even the berkley power fidder crab or sand flea? Oh, and since I dont have a boat, how far off the jetties would i be casting out?

                        Thanks a million
                        God bless

we are using live shrimp. either free shrimping or w/ a popping cork next to the rocks. if you are more than 2 feet away from the rocks you don't get as many fish. i'd free shrimp now and increase your chance of catching some trout too. good luck.
