  • Stalling Merc

I have a 50hp 2010 Merc that occassionally stalls, particularly at low idle. Usually the ball is not firm, and one time it was even sucked flat. For the latter time, I opened the gas tank and was then able to re-pump, enabling the engine to start and run. Any ideas? It also will sputter to a stop when I have it idling and running if I tilt it a bit. I don't know if they are related, but am open to any and all input. Thanks!

I had an Evinrude that would do that (mostly when wide open) and I found a kink in the fuel line under the deck. Check the vent on your fuel tank as well.
    Shut up and FISH!!

Also, the connection from your fuel line to the tank itself could be leaking air... I had one of those fittings fail.

Great ideas! Thanks. A simple, cheap solution would sure be nice. :-)
