  • Hanging a Kayak

Wanted to know your thoughts on using the J-type haning brackets they use for canoes. Most my neighbors use the a hoisting method but due to limitation in the garage I cant do that. I bought the big J-brackets and dont know if it will hurt the sides of the yak.

    Any thoughts??

No, it won't hurt it. Support it 1/3 of the way in from the sides, not at the tips. This goes for brackets or straps.

There shouldn't be enough pressure to deform it unless you start filling the yak with stuff.

home depot sells ladder storage hooks that come with foam padding for like 4-6 bucks a piece, I think they are a little smaller than the ones your talking about but you can store your kayak on its side at an angle on them. Thats what I use and they work great. they have a 50 lb weight limit, so 2 = 100 lbs, my kayak weighs 40 lbs so no big deal. do a search on kayak storage, I posted pics of my setup right after I did it
