  • Boat Right - Casting Deck - TXSHOCKWAVE

I trailered the Gator-Tail over to Boat Right to have James (TXSHOCKWAVE) build me an elevated casting deck for the bow of the Gator-Tail as well as a gigging light setup all of which could be removed in under a few minutes.

The idea being I can run with nothing on the bow (when out just having fun) if I want to go fishing quick disconnect for the trolling motor and then place the platform on the bow. Turn buckles secure it to deck. A removable light bar can be inserted & hooked up in under moments, which will allow me to transform the casting deck into a gigging deck. The entire unit will only add around 60LBS of additional weight to the rig.

I am going to have the entire thing powder coated identical to the poling platform he did previously. James has sent me some progress pics but I do not want to post them until it's 100% finished until then sit & wonder but dang this thing is SICK!

Of course the platform will have a couple of rod holders, a step & railing to keep the anglers / giggers safe.

    More to come...

What type of a lighting system did you decide on. I hope it was HPS with a remote ballast box, that would be totally sick.

May go that direction, later.... I went with 500W Halogens (3 of them) may upgrade to 3 400W HPS later depending upon price & ability to make them fit

That should be plenty bright. I have heard / read on a Bow Fishing forum that halogens if used more than one night in a row can sun burn your retinas much like watching a weld arc without protection. With that said, I to am currently using halo's with my 12v system but not as many watts. I am using 10 - 55w bulbs for a total of 550 wt's. You are going to be more than bright enough. I want to check it out when you are through. I am now wondering at what depth you are going start dragging the bottom at the transom.

You realize you hit something just a little bit to wrong and do some front deck tweaking...Hey, just saying but it does look really nice. Daddy like.

Here is a close up of the powdercoat you can see the texture gives some nice grip.
