Saturday's Catch

Saturay turned out to be a fairly good day for Flyfishing .I had picked up 4 reds for a couple of hours of fishing when I thought that I heard someone hollering for help.It indeed was a distress call from a duck hunter that had swamped his rig and was a drift out in the middle of a white capping west bay.He was sitting atop his hull soaked to the bone.I picked him up and returned him to his home in Jamaica beach.Once he dried out he returned with a larger craft to pick up his hull.He lost most everything but his life.I went back out after the rescue and managed one more red.It felt good to know that he was going to be O K.

That kid was Capt. Glen's nephew. He's lucky he's alive too. More than a few duck hunters in waders have drowned when they're boat swamped and flipped. Good going with the rescue for sure.

No.Mark told me about that as we traded rescue stories.I could not believe that Mark was like the fifth or sixth boater to go past that stranded boater before he stopped to offer help.
