  • TUNA Trip Dec. 16th on BIG E - Possbile FWE group trip

The big e out of freeport is doing a few 24 hour trips that run from noon to noon.

They run almost full speed out to the tuna grounds, fish all night for yellow fin and head back in at day break.

Its a 6 hr trip each way, and no bottom fishing, 12 hrs of fishing for tuna

A group of us are doing a pre-xmas trip on Friday Dec 16th leaving at noon.

Saturday night I will be eating sushi at my house.

Because they a runnig that big boat at a higher speed, gas will be consumed at less than optimal rate so the cost is a little for than usual @ $400

If you ever wanted to do one of these trips, and would like to know some guys, I would gladly help you out through-out the trip.

Call Underwater Expiditions to set your reservations

You have to provide all you lures and rod and reels?

I'm not too sure about the rods and reels, but I'm positive you have to bring your own jigs and lures. And make sure you have more than you think you would need. If you need examples of what to get, PM me and I can send over some names/pictures of stuff you'll need.

They provide a big reel (newel) and rod .... along with sardins and chum to bring up the tuna.

I very rarely see anyone using their equipment..... as most have super high end rods and reels.

Two reels that are most useful

30 wide 2 speed - on a 6.6' rod with top roller- for chunking and draging live flyers

big spinning reel - Stella 20,000 with 65lb braid on 7'Calstar 700H for when the big girls come calling
Helps you throw big top waters and swim baits

This would be cool. I'm concerned that I don't have the gear and I know it would kill me to be bottom fishing and everyone else is catching 80lb yellows on top.......

10 rods were broke on the last big e trip - most were long rods / OTI's .... that kaboom could be your rod snapping on a big girl
