  • 7/15 Jetty report

Met up with John Mays and his 13 year old son Hunter and his good freind Micheal this morning at the Texas City Dike. I had the chance to first fish with Hunter and his dad about 2 years ago as we fished along the rocks at the Galvez jetties. 2 years ago Hunter starts the day off with a solid 28" Trout that may have been a potential Star winner that year but Hunter wasn't registered at the time. This year was different, Hunter was registered so off we went to the rocks once again to see what we could come up with.....
After about 10 to 15 minutes of soaking skrimp with no takers Hunters rod goes down in the blink of an eyes and the fight is on, within 7 or 8 minutes Hunters lands a solid 25" trout that weighed close to 4 1/2 lbs. What can I say, he beleives in getting the big fish out of the way first LOL. Not queit a Star contender but still one heck of a Trout. Within a few minutes Micheal gets the ball rolling with his first Trout of the day that went 22" on the Check It stick. The two yound gentlemen got things started off right and got us off to a great start. We ended picking up 22 Trout to 25" at the rocks before moving off to another spot closer to the Dike. The second spot was no different than the fist spot. Once the anchor was in place John wasted no time as he put a quick few Trout in the boat. For about an hour we had plenty of action here on some more solid keeper Trout. We left them biting around 1pm with a 3 man limit for Hunter, Micheal, and John. What a great day on the water with a great bunch of fishermen. All in all we must have caught over 40 Trout all free linning skrimp.
