  • How to plant seeds and plants

If you plan to plant seeds directly into the soil you will have to water at least 3 times a day.

The way you plant seed that are bigger then your pinky nail all you do is push the seed into the soil with the part that looks like it has a root in the ground first and only push it into the soil about an 1/8 of an inch past the whole seed.

Do not plant it any deeper it will more then likely take twice as long to get your seed to germinate. You will want to water 3 times a day for a couple weeks until that plant is about 4 to 6 inches tall. The reason you have to water so much is the root of the seedling is only as long as the plant is tall. If the root dries out the plant dies.

Be careful with watering though. If it is cloudy outside and the soil is still moist when you go to water again do not water again. When it is hot and sunny your soil dries out fast especial if we have high winds.

When planting plants you buy from a nursery or a chain store, plug your hole only as deep as the depth of the pot the plant is put in and place a table spoon of fertilizer in the bottom of your plug.

Place the plant in the hole and pack the soil in tightly around the root ball. Water it in and there you have it. The plant will thrive.

Now for tomatoes and peppers you will not plant it only to the depth of the pot it came in. You will want to snip off any suckers or lower leafs on the stock of the plant and plug a hole as deep as the first major cluster of leaves. The hairs on the tomatoe plants will become roots and since peppers are in the same family it is best to do the same.

To get ultimate root growth for tomatoes and night shade family plants use iron phosphate about a table spoon in your hole plus a table spoon of fertilizer. The iron phosphate is organic in case you were wondering it comes from a mineral dug out of the ground.

Try it and see how well this works.
