  • Great night, 5/30/09

Took my son David and my good friend Sean who happened to fly down from Tampa, Fl. out for a gig trip last night.

We pulled up to Blockade Runners dock about a hour before sunset and shot the breeze before heading out to the happy hunting grounds. I have to admit, for us giggers, it was a down beat feeling because it was windy with a lot of surface ripples and the night before it was the same thing but with winds out of the north and that night we worked hard for several hours and only had 5 average keepers but tonight was to be different.

When we arrived to our "Spot", the water clairty was good, the winds seemed to be getting weaker and it was a mild, incoming tide and conditions only improved from there.

Our big fish of the night came in at a even 22'' and we had several in the 18'' to 20" range.

This boat is exceding my expectations with a few added modifications, it has become a supreme hunting machine that tracks well. I can see a HPS light system for it in the future!

Over all, it turned out to be my best gigging trip ever and I don't think anyone in my party will ever forget it either.

    My son David.

    David and my friend Sean.

    Sean.

I guess know one knows how to crop a shot but me! Nice fish though.

    On the hunt!

This was actually a great pic until I tried to remove the red eye from the flash.

    Happy campers.

David is not use to gigging from a boat. He hit this fish so hard that the 3 tined gig actually blew through the whole fish. Son needs to lay of the steroids. J/K

Beauty and the beast, Im the ugly one.

This is what its all about.

    The End.

Here is a kinda cool vid I made that night.
        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPaIx7AF9BI

Following two vids, 1st one is leaving the KOA not much to see really

This one is a little better. We are burning the bayou. Disclaimer-No moored vessels were damaged in the making of this vid.

This finale vid shows kinda what it looks and sounds like to be in a fan boat.
It sounds loud on the vid because it was loud but when you get up forward in the bow it becomes very tolerable.

              Thanks Mike.
I'd like to make it a habit to stop by at least an hour before sunset to hang out a little.

Sometimes I'll be by myself and I can carry 3 giggers comfortably so you know what that means...

Great to see you and meet your son and his friend. Man, that video cuts off right before you pull up to the camp. You're welcome to come by for the sunset any time. Nice catches. I remember you were not very optimistic about your chances. Sure is good to see things worked out well.

Aww shucks, ya'l. Thanks, and as always thanks for the invite Mike.
Its relaxing to my soul to sit on your porch and watch the sunset all the while anticipation builds for what possibilities awaits in the dark on the flats.

By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary.
