Oh yeah! Here's my recipe for a crab boil:
Ingredients to feed 4 normal individuals
12 craBs
1 lb shrimpz
4 small red potatos
4 ears corn on the cob - break in half
4 stalks celery - cut in half
4 carrots - break in half
2 onions - cut into big pieces
sausage - cut into 1.5 inch chunks
Spices:
Zataran's Crab Boil packet
Cayenne pepper
Cajun seasoning (any brand)
Fill a big pot halfway with water, put on your propane burner, full blast. Dump in all the spices - how much is your call, but don't be a wuss. For me, you can't make it too spicey
About the crab boil packet.... cut that sucker open and dump the spices in the water!
Bring to a rolling boil. (If you put in a bunch of cayenne pepper, be careful that you don't take a big whiff of the steam, it'll knock you down!)
Cook time is 20 minutes, we'll be throwing in the ingredients in the following order.
Note the time on your watch.
Start Time - Dump in the potatoes.
Start time + 5 minutes - dump in the celery and carrots.
Start time + 10 minutes - add onion, sausage, corn
Start time + 15 minutes - add craB
Start time + 17 minutes - add shrimpz
Start time + 20 minutes - turn off burner
Let everything sit in the pot for awhile to cool down so it can be handled.
Dump out and chow down.
Have several bottles of Louisiana Hot Sauce on hand, some salt, melted butter if you like. It was a battle of attrition, but in the end we were victorious!
