  • Nearshore 6/27

Met up with 007 and took the Shoalwater out for it's maiden voyage in the open gulf. The plan was to hit a rig ~6 miles out, but the chop never laid down, and got a bit worse as the day went on. We ended up staying nearshore and trolling around a gas platform with a jack-up rig on it ~3 miles out. Didn't get any hits, and the only fish we saw pulled up were trash fish by some guys fishing croakers. Those fellows did say they lost a ling earlier. We came back to near the breakers on the Galv side of SLP and cut a few drifts on some slicks. There we got into the gafftops hard Even got a double hook-up on slimers They like those devil eyes! 007 even caught the biggest bluefish I've seen around here. Anyways, I had a good time and got some pulls.

Cool MJ-trying at least in tough conditions.
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.

At least you didn't run out of gas. That is always a good thing when fishing with 007!
Way to give it a shot!

I was wanting to go about 9 miles but we wound up being about 6 miles. She did pretty good considering the conditions. I think that we burned 7-8 gallons of fuel total which ain't bad at all. We'll do it again under better conditions.

P.S. Slimers love Brown devil eyes.
I work just enough to pay for my fishing habit.
