I would like to know a good place to go floundering and what time of year is good?

West Bay South Shoreline Coves, Diversionary canal, SLP, Christmas, Bastrop....etc....Depends on how you are getting there and if you are walking or boat.
Mid spring to Late Fall

If you want to do some combat fishing you can go to seawolf park

SLP is a very good place. Being a pass, it gets a lot of clean water when the conditions are right. I also believe a lot of flounder move through there so it is less susceptible to fishing pressure. As a bonus, it is almost all firm sand bottom, and the flats are big enough for your buddies to join you (versus a lot of bay spots where the giggable depth is barely enough for one person)

I'll add the channel side of the S. Jetty and The Lagoon, which are E. end of the island spots.
