  • 4 days in the south shore marsh

Saturday, 7/13/13 - A great day in the marsh. Wind light SSE tide low at dawn and rising. Found fish in the incoming tide drains. Caught 3. Kept 2 for the wife's fish fry.

Sunday, 7/14/13 fished with a friend. Very much same conditions, but fished mainly around scattered grass islands. Found pods of reds cruising the grass lines. Cast to one crawling single. Perfect presentation, but I twitched the fly in front of the red and a nice size flounder took the fly instead of the red. Total 3 reds and 1 flounder. One of the released reds was 19" and the other released red was barely 20."

Monday, 7/15/13 - Dramatic early morning tide change. Was met at dawn with high tide, high wind, and rain. Went back to bed.

Tuesday, 7/16/13 - High tides again but wind out of the ENE. Always hard for me under these circumstances. Paddled hard for 2 hours and saw only one pod of tailing reds. Did everything right. Cast to the middle of the tails and instantly was onto about a 2 pound lady fish. Great arial display and good fight for just a little while.

That is an awesome report! Congrats. Im just starting to try and hook saltwater fish on the fly, what fly did you use? Hands down ladyfish are fun to catch even if you cant really eat them!
