  • broke in the jh performance this week

i took off a few days to break in the new boat and catch a few fish. east matagorda was slow. tuesday am yielded 2 trout early in the morning. wednesday produced one slot red and 2 keeper trout and a few throwbacks. thursday am we hit the same cove again on the south shoreline but went really early. i had a ten minute bite from about 750 to 8. i strung 3 trout and one huge 6.5 lb 24 inch flounder. i was working the drop off of a gut with motor oil assassins then it just turned off quickly as it turned on. we found one small flock of birds on the way in and had a total of 5 trout and the flounder. we were back at the harbor before nine.
the new boat really moves. i'm really happy with it. here's a few shots.

still in matty thomas. needs a couple of things to be done. should be home in another week. i'm fishing matagorda this weekend again til different prop comes in and trolling motor gets installed. it hit 48 mph at 5600 rpms so he wants me to try a different prop. i'm not sure what numbers he's looking for but it seemed pretty fast to me.

i got around 5600 rpms and 48mph. busha ordered me a different prop to try. i think he ordered a smaller on. i don't know crap about props but will let you know what the final numbers are.
it cruises very comfortably in the low 40s though.
