  • Well I went fishing today. Sort of.

Yesterday afternoon I went down to the ICW and wet a line for a little while.
Not much happened. A few small specks and reds.
    The tide went very low.
Down in the water was some oysters on some old concrete. Noticed a couple of cast nets hung up on the shells.
Thought to myself I need to come back and get those nets.
I use the old lead weights to remelt and make large spider weights for surf fishing.
Today I went back down there. Put on some gloves and waded off into the muck.
Was hoping to recover a few nets.
So I started pulling off the nets.
One net lead to another and another and another!
    Y Carumba!
Think I found where every weekend warrior had lost a cast net!
When It was all over I had pulled 22 NETS out!
Drug all of them out. Packed everything up and took it all back to the house.
Spend the entire afternoon sitting, cutting weights off the old nets.
Ended up with 84 POUNDS of lead weights! Hory Clap! Won't need to buy any lead for casting for a while.
So my little "fishing" expedition was a success.
Help clean the water of some lead as well.

      Wow, that's quite a haul.
Smelting lead and splitting wood are good winter time projects.
