I fished yesterday day with Nwilkins and his son Trey in East Matagorda. We left the ramp at dawn and proceeded to fish the south shore drains. Keying in on bait, we checked out every drain, only to produce two trout and one red.
About 3:30, we moved to areas with scattered mud and shell, fishing several different reefs with no promising result.
Finally, just before dark, it turned on and we boxed 6 trout just before dark. All trout but ONE was caught on PINK Corky’s. Not green or blue or purple but PINK corky’s.
(There is a little inside joke here)
All of the trout caught were solid 3lb except ONE. Ah Hmm (excuse me I had to clear my throat) TREY.
After grinding it out hard, all day the last 40 minutes of daylight made the trip worth while.
In the end, we had a beautiful day with good friends on the water. We boxed Eight trout and one red after 10 hours of hard grinding. I think am more excited about how hard work to find fish than our actual catch.
Have a safe and happy Christmas,
Charlie
