  • 7/11: Friday afternoon bite

My 6yo and I put the boat in the water at Louis' about 6:30pm yesterday afternoon. We motored out into Jones Lake. I planned on fishing the mouth of the Diversionary Canal. We saw some slicks out in the middle of the bay so we pulled around and cut a couple of long drifts in between the shell/spoils. I don't know if they were fish slicks or crab trap slicks but you can't argue with the catching.

We caught about 7 reds, two specks, a croaker and two hardheads. About 1/2 of the fish were undersized. We headed back to Louis' about 8:30p for some fried shrimp and Dr. Pepper. Charlie got a chuckle out of the karaoke going on in the bar.

We had a steady bite the whole time we were out. Tide was going out pretty well. Wind was 15+ SE. Water wasn't terrible but still pretty murky. Live scrimps under a popping cork of course.

Hope everyone enjoys the tourney today. Good luck and tight lines.
