  • East bay re-con with Capt. Dave 6/02

Launched out of Eagle Point at 06:15 yesterday morning and made a b-line to Smith Point. Drifted the North shore line 5 or 6 times with no luck. The water was chocolate milk and very little tide movement. Motored over to bird island and dropped the trolling motor and started hunting. Bait was everywhere...shrimp, mullet and glass minnows galore. 1st cast..bam..fish on! Solid 21" football. Caught 3 more identical to that one before the bite died. I think if we would have hit there 1st, we'd have boated quite a few more fish. East bay is a good alternative to West on these W/SW days, especially in the summertime.
I work just enough to pay for my fishing habit.

Eagle point used to be our favorite spot to put in and head to the reefs or wells in East Bay. Great place to fish! Congratts on the catchin, keep onnnn fishin
