One of my oldest friends had the house to himself this weekend so I headed down to his house right by Sylvan Beach Friday night so we could get a early start on Saturday - instead of driving from Houston. This would allow for more sleep - so I thought. Instead though we stayed up talking and drinking until 2am. Four hours later his dad is at the house and we are heading out.
We hit the water a little after sunrise. We head out towards Little Cedar Bayou and fish some slicks for a bit pulling in two dink trout. The slick was so big and we were catching dinks we decided to move into the bayou. We go up just a ways and fishe this little "cove" and start picking up reds on the first cast. We stayed in that exact spot until 11am and head back in.
Tally for the day:
2 dink trout
1 nice size sandy
16 reds (2 rat 14 slot)
a bunch of croaker and a couple hard heads
After that I needed a nap.
All in all a great day to be on the water with an old friend.
