  • Removing carpet

I'm finally going to rip the hideous carpet off on our boat and get some safe floor put on. Any suggestions to get the old glue off?

Do a search on "the other" website. You're not the first to ask.

Then again, since I'm a know-it-all, I have some ideas. Rip/scrape off the carpet then soften the glue with paint-remover maybe, let it sit for a while and scrape off.......or maybe a heat gun and scrape as you go. If all else fails put on a tyvek suit tape all openings and use a body grinder and 80 grit sanding disk.

Got all the carpet off, now that hard part... the glue. I read on the "other site", that a power washer will take it off. That sounds easy so I will try that first.

If not, I have a heat gun you can try and the grinder with the sanding set-up too!

I'm still shopping. I normally use tops-n-towers but they are getting to pricey for me. I'm leaning with Custom Marine Concepts right now. But have not commited just yet.
