  • Aransas Pass Sept 3, 4, and 5, 2010

Friday - Windy, rain, thunder, and lighting

Saturday - Storms built up off shore and we sat at the dock for extra 45 minutes waiting to see where it would go, lucky for us it went south so we headed north. Aransas Bay was rough (2 -3') and no hope getting out there with 3 boys on board.
We worked the ranch house and mud island and found only hard heads, so we came back to Hog and picked up a 26 1/2'' (one of the boys first saltwater trip and first red), but never could get a bite going working sand pockets on the flats (the tide was up about 16'' from last weekend). We ended up going to East Flats area and the boys did a great job of learning how to work live bait over grass as we drifted the flats, they picked up 2 more keeper reds and a trout, to make the day a success.
Thanks guys for a great time on the water and listening and learning how to fish in windy conditions.

Sunday- Water higher, winds light to 10 - 15 mph and slightly cloudy. Fishing Dad and grown kids who were troopers as we worked and could see reds but only had a rat red before 1 pm. We picked up 6 more in the next hour to save the day, one 24 1/2'' and 26 1/2'' and a few dink trout. We caught all reds drifting pigs over grass and sand pockets in 2 - 4' of water. Thanks for the extra staying power and making it a great day on the water.
