  • Melted wires on a 2001 Merc 150

Dad took out the kenner the other day, and called with bad news. The wires going to one of the power packs started melting and smoking. He shut it down and trolled back to the ramp. luckily he was close. My question is, what would cause that? That engine is in great shape and looks practically brand new under the cowling. The engine gets plenty of use but we take really good care of it. Any thoughts?

Look for a broken/nicked wire or corroded connection. A loose connection can cause it also just had it happen on my trim motor wire was broken at the terminal and was arcing to ground smoked my wire
    Bacon Bacon Bacon!!!
