  • SLP night fishing FYI

Last night the Gulf Trout were thick enough to walk across in the lights at SLP/Cold Pass area. Anchored up in the lights last night, you could see thousand of them swimming around in the lights and all around the boat. Some were really nice size, probably 20" or so. Live shrimp is the ticket. Throwing lures is a waste of time, they want shrimp, period. VERY finicky fish. Some guys pulled up to the ramp as we were leaving. They were fishing the mud island side with lights/generator. They had a box full of fish. 2 limits of reds, tons of specks/gulf/sand trout. Claimed they boated 8 specks that "were too big to keep". They were using live skrimps/corks. Water was beautiful gin clear on the incoming tide. So if any of you lights/generator guys are bored tonight, haul them down to slp and set up, and have you a quart of live shrimp and fill up ice chests with trout. The best action I saw was after midnight.
