  • Reds and wind, both on today.

My buddy called at 10 this morning and announced that the wind was blowing and he was going fishing and did I want to go. The wind was out of the north at 20 kts or better and I told him to pick me up and I would be ready.

We hit one of the outlets to Fence Lake at 1050 and quit fishing at 1210. It was rough and windy but we put six reds and two black drum in the box. There were three of us but one of the guys had to be at work at 1300 so we headed into the wind and back to Goose Island State Park.

We used braided line with a sinker and hook (no swivel and no leader) and used dead shrimp for bait. Great day for a short fishing trip, too busy and too windy and cold to drink a single beer.

the fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad.
