Hit chocolate and west bay today,
The flounder came first, dragging a 1/4 oz jig thru the mud in a area the flounder were so active they were making mud boils. I hooked 5 of them all but 2 spit the hook. The big one in the pic goes 22 inches.
After that i checked out several other spots with only 2 dink trout to show for it. Then with ice cream conditions i decided to head into west bay looking for some birds. No birds anywhere, but i did find several schools of REDFISH.
The first one i spotted from about 200 yds away and used the trolling motor to ease up to it. They were on the surface but only occasionally busting bait. Once i got close enough to them i let my jig fly. As soon as it hit the water...bam...fish on. I would fight the fish to the boat, net it and then spend 15 min or so trying to catch back up the the school. Repeated this 4 times and then i decided to have some real fun. Started throwing a mirrolure, i wanted to see if i could burn it thru the school so fast, they couldnt catch it....that didn't happen 2 more times.
Lost the school after that. All the reds were between 22-25 inches.
Headed back to chocolate to work some spoils, and picked up a few dinks and sandies before finally catchin 2 small keeper trout to complete the slam.
I will back at it on Friday to finish up my 2 vacation...
