Report from this past weekend. We went off one day and hit the rocks the following day so please pardon the posting on the forum board. Figured I'd consolidate. I had some folks decide to come down from Arkansas kinda last minute so unfortunately I missed out on the blackjack tourney. Nevertheless we hit the drink and gave it a shot. Nothing like having the pressure of putting new salts on fish to liven up the fishing now and then. Without too much elaboration Ill just say I lucked out and the feeshin gods smiled on us cause they were busy busy.
Sat: rounded the jetties head long into some ugly chop as we made our way to the anchorage for some light trolling action. Found a few kings right away hangin around took the prop wash lure every time (stretch 25). Found a large weed patch trolled, bump trolled and drifted it nobody home. did manage some livies off of it w the sabiki though. PRogressively made our way out to a 20 mile rig. No snaps on the bottom but we managed a few more kings and some large smacks. Start up and untie as I go to reel up the starboard flat line it seems awfully taught. That always warrants a hookset so I gave it hell and handed it off. See the pics what a sea beast, 90+ minutes, 5 different anglers, full on backing down in the panga, what an awesome battle. Once we saw what it was we all took turns playing the brute.
Sun: Hit the rocks mid morning and found them biting. One of the more mixed catch type of days out there that ive had in awhile. LOTs of big ladyfish put on some great aerial displays for my guests. They also boated several large sheepheads, sandies, specks, and reds. Made for nice stringer of meat for them to take back to the pine curtain with them.
