  • 1st timer going to Gaveston Bay

I am fishing in the Bluewave owners tournament next weekend out of Galveston yacht basin and have never been on this water before.

I will be able to pre-fish on Friday where should I start or look for?

    Thanks

What type of fish are you looking for in the tournament? Live bait or artificials? Do you wadefish? These answers will help us get you a starting area.

It is a big fish tournament with categories in redfish trout flounder live and artificial.
Any bait can be used. Live shrimp are hard to get where I fish in calcasieu lake in lake Charles. I did not know if this is the case in Galveston. No wade fishing for us the reports of stingrays is a deterrent. We are launching from Galveston yacht basin.

      Thanks for the help

They'll have live shrimp and other bait choices at the yacht basin. Good starting point to go pretty much any direction to fish. Good luck!

Welcome aboard BlueWaveBob. Yes good place to start go east or west. I would not wade because of sting rays. Yes they are there and will pop you if not careful. I shuffle my feet and wear ray guards when I remember to put them on. They are thick and you will kick them when you shuffle your feet. I feel wading is a good way to fish West Bay. And yes wade fisherman do own the bay. You hearing me Mr Greg Francis aka Aqua Pimp.
