  • What is up with surf fishing????

We waded the surf on the west end around 7am throwing plastics and tops. Despite moving to various beach locations we only caught skip jacks and one dink trout. The water was beautiful. My question is why wasn't there more action in the surf? Fish going back to school also, ha!

We did put the boat in at the KOA around 10am and caught some nice trout on plastics around the pass. That was slow... The water was very clear in some areas...

In my experience, in September really large trout come in very close to shore. I'm talking first gut. They're hard to catch on lures, but we used to throw live finger mullet with a small barrel weigh and catch 'em.

I waded the surf before the sun even thought about coming up yesterday and late afternoon and evening and didn't get a bite on tops, jigs, not even spoons.
