  • Marsh drains around jones

Another good day on the water this morning fish the drains around Jones. This was a catch and release trip this time, so I don't have many pics.

The water started out off colored with the tide moving out, and the reds were pretty thick. I probably caught 12 slot reds within the first 2 hours I was on the water, then the rats started to show up.

Once the tide shifted and brought in cleaner water the trout bite started to heat up. I caught a few trout in the 20''+ range and the rest were in the 12-16" range. It was a pretty fun day on the water once again, and I did manage to complete my slam on my way back to the ramp with a 10 inch flounder. It wasn't the greatest way to finish out the slam, but at least I got it.

Very well done. I've spent some time learning Jones better this fall and it has been good to me. How are fishing the drains? Anchored up or on the move?

I troll for the most part. I anchor when one spot is just on fire. The more water I cover, I normally do much better around the drains.

I did catch all of my fish on a 1/8 oz. jig head with Texas Roach plastics. Mainly H&H cocahoe minnows, but I threw some TTF killer flats minnows and BA's in the same color.
