Where and what flies?

I'm heading to stay with a friend on the West Galveston Bay Area in August. Any areas to target and what flies might work? We have a boat that draws 3 feet. Mostly fished fresh water in the UK so this is a new adventure for me and my son.

That's tough with a boat that draws that much... I'd try shrimp patterns, deceivers (Chartreuse in color). You may find yourself wanting to anchor in the deep water and walk some shorelines in knee deep water?

Thanks, we may well try off the shoreline too. Any particular locations that I might try?
