  • 5/17 Carancahua Cut

Sunday morning I waded north shore west of Carancahua Cut. I had not been there in years and was happy to see grass and green water. A line of birds was working a long stretch of the shore. Got an early slap at at top water, and changed to paddletails. Several juvenile reds around 15-18 inches stretched the line. I was hoping a school of trout would be around, but I did not find any. I think I will try the south shore closer to SLP this Thursday.

They dumped a bunch of dredge spoil in there 4 or 5 years back .. killed the area for a while. Glad to hear the grass is coming back. Down near SLP has been pretty good here lately.
    Shut up and FISH!!

Naw, I just checked and there are no fish anywhere near SLP. I hear they're all up in Chocolate.

That area was killed thanks to the darn dredge company. I have a video you YouTube with me walking through 1' of mud on top of oyster reefs just sad!

Nature is resilient. If we just leave things alone for a while, they get better. Like Mike said, good to hear it's coming back.
