  • Offats Bayou night fishing

My father in law just got 5 green underwater lights at their place in Galveston (its in Offats bayou very close to the Galveston newspaper building). We are headed down there this weekend and I want to do some night fishing over the lights.

Any suggestions on what to throw???

Small tandem rigs. Work the edges of the lights, not the centers.

Yep. Most bait shops carry them as well. You can make your own too.

Academy has them on the island... They are called "Speck Rigs" / tandem rigs... I prefer the green color and yes work the edges. Any glow lure will work as well. I keep a flash light to recharge the lures when I'm night fishing.

We get those and put the cocahoe minnows on them for the lights

yeah me too! I have been down a few times after posting this thread and haven't caught anything. There's hardly anything even visible in the lights. I expected to see tons of fish swimming over the lights.

WHere are they? I've always heard Offats Bayou is a hot spot this time of year

It is all about the bait fish and the shad, when they ball up in your lights the trout and reds will follow!

The top ones I have good luck with. If it don't work, switch the plastics. TTF has some good swim shads glow in the dark that are killer that I put on that exact rig.
