  • 8 mile / Sportsman or SLP?

Was looking at the noaa forecast for the weekend and I'm thinking I'm gonna have to try and do some gigging. Anyone want to chime in and offer an opinion on which area to try? I know where I'll go if i hit up the 8 mile area, but I've never tried giggin around SLP. However, if that's where the flounder are laying that's where I want to be.

I'm guessing I'll want to stick to the south shoreline at SLP, but I know there is that huge open flat between the shoreline and the first gut. Is that flat worth checking out? I've only ever waded the area once so I'm still green over there. Any advice is much appreciated.

Good luck this weekend and be safe!

slp area could be good if the water clears up.plenty of shallow water and sand bottom.
the fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad.

Yep, Sportsman's area can be muddy, but it is also closer and has fish too. Keep in mind, any area not protected can get too choppy to see well with any decent wind.
