Im pretty sure those were hand made by the rod builder, as I have never seen those before. Pretty much all the rods in his gallery look to have hand made grips. http://www.woodsmenrods.com/index.php

that's it but how would you round down the parts that connect to the rod?

I am not familliar with this type of grip, but it looks like you order arbors and bushings with them so that everything is finished off nicely.

Its a formed carbon fiber sleeve, can be purchased in many colors and it uses a formed foam handle that is poured and formed to fit!

are you going to make a rod with it? I'd like to see the finished product if you do. You might be making my next rod.

I'm a little late to the party but it is actually pretty easy to build those grips. It starts with a foam core that is shaped by hand or on the lathe, covered with the carbon fiber sleeve and epoxied. There are a few more steps involved but it is not that difficult. I've built a few grips with them. I purchase the special clear epoxy, treated heat shrink & kevlar/cf sleeving from Soller Composites and the foam cores from Riley.
