Lower Galveston Bay 06.27.10

Waded the Texas City Dike area this morning. Despite lots of surface bait and slicks, there were no takers 'up top'. Switched to live bait with better results. By 10:00 am, I had nine fish of the stringer, but it took me til noon to finished off my limit of trout (up to 22"). The fish were very tight to the shoreline in about 1.5 to 2 feet of water.

CQ was in town last week to relocate his family across the big pond. He advised that fly fishing for rainbow trout is OK. However, he added that it doesn't even come close to the excitement associated with a large trout blowing up on a topwater!!! Served as a reminder that we are truly blessed to have access to some of the best coastal fishing in the lower 48!!!
