Rod build help needed

I have a custom G Loomis rod with one of the split grip handles and the guy who built it put way too much of a gap between the lower and upper handle pieces. I like to have a shorter handle so when I reel in I'm not getting the rod stuck against my body. The rod is somewhat short to begin with so I'd like to not have any of it chopped off. So the handle might need to be replaced/re-epoxied altogether if this is the case.

Is there anyone on the site that can help with this type of work?
