We left Surfside Marina today around 8am to slightly confused seas, we were expecting flat calm. Well, the seas turned to glass around 60 miles out and stayed that way all day. We made bait at a rig and made a few drops for AJ's but nobody was home. We continued out to the shelf and hit a few spots that had produced last year.
On our first deep drop we had an instant strike and we pulled up a beautiful Snowy Grouper.
We dropped a few more times and pulled a couple of dogfish. We moved to another spot and commenced to pull in a few good tiles.
On our way in we opted for a daytime sword drop. We dropped down in an area I had always wanted to try. It did not disappoint! Bait was only down for 3-4 minutes before I saw some tapping. Teased the fish into the bite and after another 5 minutes we were tight!
It made some good runs and finally met the gaff and the deck of the boat. We boxed it up and headed straight in. Ran 42 the whole way back with smooth seas.
