5am-11:30am
Galveston: No Sppecifics-Not My Spot
Clarity 24"-36" Sandy Green
Wind: None to Light and Variable except right before rain
Super Spook Jr's in Bone and Chrome/Black also Root Beer Red Killer & Watermelon Red Assassin
(SW)Silver Wolf, J, and myself(Moe)
Hip deep about 5am throwing tops and tails. First couple of fish caught were flounder by Silver Wolf. One kept, the other returned to grow up some more. J is a friend of SW and it was his first trip. He catches a 23" Speck a few moments later. We cast for the next hour without anything. Finally walk into an area with lots of bait moving through and the specks were present. Began to key on bait schools and catching 16"-22" specks. They were very aggressive. Looked like the rain was going to pass and it turned at the last minute. It rained on us about 2 minutes. Hey, where did the cloud cover go? Needless to say, it became quite uncomfortable, until the slicks started popping. I caught 2 keepers before the rain and four after all on the Bone SPk Jr. I only caught 2 throwbacks. I gave SW a chrome/black SPK Jr and he caught a couple of keepers as well.
It was an absolutely beautiful morning. Cloud cover to keep cool and little to no wind along with great company. Sorry for the pic on the tailgate. I will make sure to keep a stringer handy from now on.
