Fished the north jetties with a friend on the beach side Friday. There mackerel were jumping out of the the water chasing bait up and down the jetties.
My friend caught three sharks in the 2-3 foot range, one gafftop and one mackerel, I fought what was was either a very large drum or large stingray for 45 minutes on light tackle before pulling the hook free.
We then move to some shell in the Galveston bay and my friend who has never fished in the USA hooked a very nice trout before tearing the hook out the side of the mouth.
We also saw mackerel jumping out of the water chasing bait near the causeway.
Hit a few back lakes and caught one 19” trout on a skitterwalk and had about a half dozen blowups.
It was a great day on the water.
