Made a few recent flounder fishing trips and did pretty good. I tried a few different locations in Lower and Upper
Galveston Bay, which included marsh, bayous, and developed shorelines along the main bay (piers, armored shorelines, etc). The strong winds made me choose my spots carefully.
Best bite occurred during the incoming tide. Caught all 100+ flounder on the Gulp mantis shrimp in white and chartreuse on a ΒΌ ounce jighead. Most of the flounder are still spitting up small croaker and shad, so really any lures imitating these baitfish will work.
All fish were holding on mud bottom with scattered shell, sand bottom with bottom structure and in some instances, directly on top of shell and rocks along the shoreline where schools of shad were observed. Water depth ranged from 1 to 3 feet. Most of the fish in shallow water were sightcasted to after seeing bait get busted and flounder going airborne. A casted lure in the area of activity got struck immediately as it hit the water.
