  • 8/1 kayak trip

Took the kayak out this morning. Didnt get in the water till about 9 due to me forgetting my paddle at home after getting to the launch spot was using live shrimp under a cork fishing the north east shore of west bay. First 2 hours only a few bites around grass and sand bottom, lost a good hookup. pulled anchor and stumbled upon some oysters (ran the yak over the top of it, oops) right away landed a few rat reds 16-18 range. Forgot my tape measure in the car, dang! For the next 2 hours caught 6 more reds, a couple dinks and the rest in the 16-22 range. All were released, Overall a good day, but i was reminded why I dont like fishing into the afternoon. Too dang hot!

Nice work. I've done the "realize you forgot the paddle at the launch" thing and it ain't fun.

Leaving the paddle at home really sucks when you live in Tomball! Been there, done that, walked in that day!
