  • West Bay 2/2/12

Met up with my good friend Billy Ray to fish West Bay, we caught 9 trout to 21". While making a move in the heavy fog we spotted two guys trying to wave us down, headed over to see what was up. Had a leaking fuel pump on his 115 Johnson, we ended up towing them back to the ramp at 8 mile road and since we had waders on loaded the boat on their trailer for them.

The owner of the boat then asked me what he owed us, I reply his being safe back at the launch was enough payment.

These to guys are lucky we even saw them in the fog or they may have spent the night in the middle of the bay.

Funny thing is we had just been talking about a couple we towed in on a another trip and the we spotted the guys.

It was great to spend the day on the water with a good friend.

            TRUE Sportsmen and Gentlemen.

as a kid, I remember my dad and our neighbor breaking into a bay-camp and take a quart of oil and old gas to put in the flat-bottom in order to get back to Lutes. They made sure to take me back the next week to show me that We had to fix the door and return the stuff. (The family joke was that the door was already repaired & they had to break it again to return the stuff and then repair it again)
Maybe the lesson is, that was 40yrs ago and I still remember it.

True sportsmen only become that way by watching others and emulating them because they respect what a Sportsman is. What I am trying to say Texfish & Billy Ray is that someone saw Y'all helping out a stranded boater and just might emulate You in the future.
            Good Job !

                Corkey Devils, soft plastics.

The stomachs of the 4 trout I kept for the wife were pretty much empty.

                  Thanks Kenny !

I sure hope that it will always be that way, there are still a lot of good people in the world people today but there are a lot people that would just pass by these types of situation on continue on ther way.

                  Kenny thanks again.

I mentioned while laughing we should paint our boats yellow for all the times we tow people in.
