It was a little breezy Monday so I decided to stay in the protected gullies off the inter-coastal and managed to find some hungry reds. They turned on around 11 am and were hitting hard for over 2 hours on live shrimp. I also threw some live croaker but there wasn't much interest in them. I caught over 20 reds, but most were in the 16 to 19 inch range, however I did manage to land a couple in the slot. In the beginning I was getting bombarded with 12 inch croaker so I switched to a super light weight spin-caster with 8 lbs test to make things more interesting when the reds turned on. After losing a couple of keepers to that mini reel I went back to the Carrot stick and evened up the odds. Was a great day on the water, and seemed like I was the only one out there. Sure beat the hell out of workin!!
