Big canal black drum

Had a few families down to my house on the west end for spring break. One of the six year olds from Austin caught this 41lb beast in my canal. Took him almost 2 hours on a Zebco with 6lb test. Had most of the neighborhood on my dock to witness the event!

I don't think I've ever seen a smile that big once we landed it. He took a break but was right back out there once the lights came.

Was a real team effort as we had a bunch of kids run over to my neighbor's dock to make a lot of noise to turn him away from their pilings.

Definitely made up for an otherwise lackluster fishing weekend - we only caught one keeper flounder though didn't really grind with all the kids around.

Yes, SLPA, we are in Sunset Cove. After this bruiser and a little ray, my wife isn't so sure about swimming in the canal anymore

bjinks, nice report and pics. That is one big ugly. Sunset Cove is where Donna and I will be looking later this year or next. We have a place in Terramar and it is a little small for us. Hopefully we can get together some time.
