  • murphys law chocolate...

my day had high and low points today....so here goes
Before sun rise at the boat storage...replace a trailer light and realize the one you picked up at academy is used, has no wires and doesn't work...low point.
On the way to 2004 , blower motor for your AC in your truck goes out...low point
First stop after launching....Big black drum,15 min fight...high point
Second stop, grass shore line...5 redfish, 1 keeper....high point
    Third stop..spoil bank...2 keeper trout..1 keeper flounder...high point
While on the way to storage, i notice smoke pouring off a trailer tire....before i could find a safe place to pull over...BOOM blow out...broke axle. LOW POINT...
After several busted knuckles and some redneck rigging and i was able to limp to storage..

So now i ask...anybody know a trailer guy in the Friendswood area ?
I replaced all the shackles and bolts a year ago...so i thinking I'm just going to drop the whole Assembly, spring and all, and and buy a complete new Assembly ?

please chime in if you have a better idea...this is a first for me...

Depends on how old your trailer is. If it is rusting or over 8 years old I would get new springs and hubs. Just my opinion though. You will feel much safer driving. I also don't like using tires after 6 years.

Man sorry to hear about that, but at least it happened after you went fishing.

You've got me if you need me. I have jack stands, a floor jack, a creeper and a tool box ready to go in my storage unit.

That looks like quite a blow out! I'm with CTC on that: at least it happened afterwards!

Thanks for the offer, im going to need another set of jack stands.
It looks like about 800$ to replace everything. 2 axle assemblys and 4 springs.

what kind of truck do you drive? I drive a ford and always will! the reason I'm asking is cause my blower motor went out also and after a lengthy diagnostics i found a relay fuse under the good went out. check it out. hope that helps one of your lows for the day.

you caught fish? boat slip at lutes,no trailer needed.
the fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad.
