Hit the 2004 ramp with my buddy this morning @ 7am with a plan to hit up some spots or chase some birds for specks. Drove down the bay to find most of the places i had in mind were already occupied by waders so we set up shop wading some shell/mud by the ICW.. The water was a bit rough and there was no bait around that i can see, so after 10 minutes and a dink speck we decided to move to a place that had produced pretty good flounders for me last year. We trolled up to the spot to busting bait EVERYWHERE, every 5 minutes or so we would see a flounder clear launching out of the water.. there were no mullet jumping today. unless it was a finger mullet fleeing! if a fish flew out the water.. it was a flounder. Caught the whole limit sight casting with a 100% hook set ratio (they were pretty aggressive). After stringing 4 of them and a nice red, about 50 yrds away i saw this massive creature clear out the water by at least a ft and a half.. i started shuffling as fast as i could towards the beast and after 3 casts i felt that pop on my lure. After 10 sec and a hard hookset i land my PB 21.5 inch monster! All caught on gulp new penny and off the water in time for the Texans game... looks like the run has started!!
