  • Thinking About a Poontoon Boat

With the kids finally showing an interest, and the need for additional room we have started looking at different boats. T and I are considering getting a 18' Bass Buggy Poontoon (Coastal Editiion). We generally fish the Bayou and just past 2004 a few miles just off the ditch.

QUESTION: Would it be a mistake to get a poontoon for this area? We are really trying to decide if we should dump money into our 1995 18' CC with the 200 HP Mercury of go this route.

Any thoughts or input would be appreciated...

    Don't do it!

Get a 21 or 24' carolina skiff, with a newer motor .... lots of room o fish with the family ...

What If you wanted to fish that spot I took you .... to shallow for a pontoon!

There might be a guy who wants to sell his 24' CS down on the bayou ... I will call him

pontoons are great party platforms on a lake, not so much for fishing.

My sister has a 22" pontoon boat with a 115 motor upgraded the 3 blade to a 4 blade prop. It will pull up skiers or tubing & A LOT more stable when you fish you can stand on the edge of the boat without it trying to tip over! I hope this info helped! Good Luck!!
