  • Lost the Axle Today

Bummer deal! Luckily I was only about four houses from the driveway. I had to get a flatbed wrecker and launch the boat and drop off the trailer at a friends shop in JB.

Dang Kenny, is the last photo damage to the hull?

Looks like the springs / ubolts just gave way?

The bolts just tore through the aluminum. It's a combination of two things, corrosion due to contact of dissimilar metals and they drilled the holes too close to the edge.

On a serious note get 3 cans of green corrosion x green spray all new stuff and then put on some gloves and cake on the grease on axle and leaf springs heavy greasy and nasty!! Then hit a gravel road to undercoat it it will last awhile!!!

It's an aluminum trailer with a bolt on galvanized torsion axle. I launch almost every day and I always power wash it, but it has 64' of 2X12' bunks with carpet that drip saltwater forever.

Sorry to see that. Hope that don't happen to me. Mine is rough and needs an overhaul soon. I am not sure what I can do with the boat while the trailer is getting worked on. Good luck.
