Need new Fuel tank for 17 Whaler Montauk

I am trying to decide on using a plastic tank, or having one made out of aluminum. This is an above deck tank that will be in direct sun light.

Where's the old tank, under the deck? I helped a friend swap out an under deck aluminum tank for a new one fabricated exactly like the old one.
If not, can it be in the console? Definitely plastic for above deck, but where? How about a regular 6 gal. tank?

The old tanks where thrown out due to rust. They sat under the swinging console seat.

Go with plastic tank & have it coated with bedliner material.

I put 3/4 inch starboard spacers under the seat frame mount, then installed a Tempo C2814 28 gallon plastic portable in mine. Fits like a glove!!
