  • New NFB Steering On The Flatscat

The old helm was 11 years old and so rusty, you couldn't tell what it was. I decided get the helm & cable changed BEFORE it broke.
It was also an opportunity to run the transducer cable through the cable way instead of across the deck.

It's not much to look at really. It came as a 90 degree bezel, but I swapping that out for a 20 degree like was on it before.

How do you like the NFB Steering on your Flats Cat compared to the old type?
I've thought about doing that to my 21' Flats Cat too.
My brother has the NFB Steering on his Whaler and it is a pleasure to steer.

Teleflex NFB steering is the old type, and what I got. They make a newer 4.2 that makes that many turns of the wheel lock to lock. They also make a Rack&Pinion system, but that takes more width under the console.
A Hydraulic system instead would be great for a big Flatscat.
